Day of Action

9/10/2009-9/11/2009 Day of Action

What’s your role?

Calls for assistance with one of our most basic needs, food, is up a staggering 65% over this time last year according to United Way’s 2-1-1 referral line.  Even worse, many of these callers have never had to ask for help before. That’s why this volunteer opportunity is all about helping our friends and neighbors who are hungry!

There are three easy ways to help:

COMMUNITY RALLY & VOLUNTEER EVENT Join us as we kick off our 2009 campaign season AND our September Day of Action.  We’ll have breakfast and live music, hear from our 2009 Campaign Chair, Gregg Morton, and get started on sorting and loading canned foods for our Day of Action.

VOLUNTEER DELIVERY: Deliver food to agencies and see first-hand where your gifts are invested. Meet at the Sommet Center Friday September 11   1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to an overwhelming response, the VOLUNTEER - FOOD SORT-A-THON at the Sommet Center on Friday, Sept 11, is full.  If you were in the process of getting a group together or have additional volunteers to add to your group, please give us a call.  There are still ways to help!  Contact Melanie Shinbaum at 615-780-2408, or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

United Way partner agencies that work daily to meet the needs of those in need will receive the items collected from this event.
