2-1-1

Why 2-1-1?
In 2010, 2-1-1 received 225,508 calls. People called regarding 103 different needs and 2-1-1 made 254,386 referrals to 2,026 agencies. 38,388 (15%) of these were referred to programs that improve self-sufficiency: programs addressing needs such as GED, Earned Income Tax Credit, financial planning, literacy, career counseling, etc.


Launched by United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and its partners in 2004, 2-1-1 is a referral help line for community services in Middle Tennessee and serves all of Davidson County as well as 52 other regional counties. Available 7 days a week, 24 hours and staffed by trained specialists, 2-1-1 supports a database of more than 9,000 social, educational and health services offered by nonprofits, government and public agencies, community, civic and professional organizations, sliding-scale clinics, and churches and congregations, among others.
