CAT Financial Runs With Innovative Campaign Idea, Breaks Previous Records

October 18, 2011

CAT Financial got off to a fast start in their 2011 United Way Campaign in August, with a unique and innovative idea: their first-ever 5K Run/1-Mile Fun Walk.

More than 300 CAT Financial employees participated in the event, which had the greatest employee participation of any charitable event ever held at CAT headquarters. It also raised the largest amount the headquarters has ever raised for United Way, more than $4,500.

Other Nashvillians took notice of the event, too, which closed a lane of West End Avenue to enable runners to start from CAT Financial headquarters there and continue on through scenic Centennial Park. It was United Way all the way, with runners and walkers wearing LIVE UNITED T-shirts, and asterisks lining the course.

Runners and walkers included serious competitors, as well as conversation-starters dressed as a pink bunny, a hot dog, and runners sporting retro athletic attire. The winner, with a time of less than 20 minutes, was CAT Financial’s Todd Gustafson.

The event was so successful that Kent Adams, President of CAT Financial, said they are planning to do it again next year, and may open it up to the public. After the race, attendees enjoyed live music and feasted on lunch from Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Que.
