With many of Nashville’s at-risk neighborhoods recovering from the recent flood, more Nashville students than ever will lack the supplies to return to school prepared to succeed. United Way’s LIVE UNITED Summer Song Contest featured a chance to perform live at 3rd and Lindsley during United Way’s “Stuff the Bus” School Supply Drive Launch Concert on June 24th (featuring Kink Ador and KNAPSACKHEROES). Songs will be performed at United Way’s “Stuff the Bus” Launch Concert at Third and Lindsley, Thursday, June 24th 7pm.

LIVE UNITED Summer Song Contest Finalists
“Hope (Don’t Disappoint Me)” – by Jeremy McCoy
Jeremy McCoy is a touring and session bass player from Nashville, TN. Currently, he is the touring bass player for Epic Recording Artists - The Fray. Jeremy has also toured with OneRepublic, Rebecca St. James, Vicky Beeching, and Jeff Deyo. In the studio, he has also recorded songs for The Fray and OneRepublic, as well as Polydor artist - James Morrison, and many others.
“Life Well Lived” – by Simone Lazer and Joe Vulpis
Simone Lazer has appeared on daytime, primetime, & late-night series, along with The Second City, while her voice can often be heard promoting a variety of national brands.
As a published songwriter, Simone leans country, and has had songs on TV (including a theme for The Today Show) and in feature films.
Joe Vulpis is a songwriter/producer born and raised in New York. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in ‘89 with a degree in commercial arranging. Joe has performed, produced and toured with major acts all over the world. Notably, he produced Lady Gaga’s (Stefani Germanotta’s) first EP, Red and Blue. As a producer/musician, Joe works proficiently in all styles. In addition to being an accomplished pianist and songwriter, he has written and produced many national jingle ads.
“Life Well Lived” will be performed Thursday evening by Tammy Hyler- Tammy is one of Nashville’s A-list songwriters and has penned No 1 hits for Collin Raye (‘I Can Still Feel You’), and Martina McBride (‘I Love You’). Her credits also include McBride’s Top 10 hit “It’s My Time,” Raye’s “One Desire”, Journey’s “Loved By You,’ Martina McBride’s “I’ll Still Be Me,” George Strait’s “That’s My Kind of Woman,” and Shania Twain’s ‘Shoes,’ featured on the soundtrack for ABC’s hit series, Desperate Housewives, and NBC’s Nashville Star’s “What if it all goes right”. Tammy Currently writes for John Rich.
There were eight additional semi-finalists comprising the top 10 entries. Congratulations to these songwriters!
