Songwriters Compete and Help Area Students at the Stuff the Bus Launch Concert
June 20, 2011June 20, 2011- Ten Nashville songwriters will perform songs of hope and healing in front of a blue-ribbon panel of judges Tuesday, June 21 at The Listening Room for the United Way’s second annual Stuff The Bus Launch Concert.
The panel of judges includes: Cary Barlowe (whose songs have been recorded by Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift and others); Beth Brightwell of 95.5 WSM; Marty Slayton Jordan (harmony vocalist for George Strait); Belmont University music business instructor Dan Keen; and Nashville Muse owner Doak Turner. The winning tune will be featured in a United Way video and receive a prize package with items from WSM FM, Grimey’s New and Pre-Loved Music, United Way, The Cocoa Tree and more.
Barlowe will provide an opening performance at 7 p.m., and admission is $5 or a package of school supplies. All proceeds go to purchase school supplies for at-risk children in Nashville.
