Volunteer For Our Six-Hour Playground Build
October 24, 2011Volunteers and local residents will join forces at United Way's Family Resource Center Network - McGruder Center on Friday, Nov. 11 to create a lasting neighborhood legacy that promotes healthy play and well-being. The customized playground design was created using drawings and input from local community members–from children to seniors–of their dream playground elements.
This unique space will have adult and senior-focused elements (such as fitness stations and walking paths) to promote good posture, balance and flexibility, and traditional, kid-friendly equipment to create a truly multi-generational space for people of all ages to play and gather.
McGruder Center, part of the United Way Family Resource Center Network, offers popular afterschool and summer programs for children, as well as various activities for seniors. The new playground will greatly enhance these programs, providing youth with an age-appropriate area to play, and adults and seniors with opportunities to engage in physical activity and interactions with each other and the community.
Please join us for this fast-paced, fun, old-fashioned barn-raising with a playful, urban twist, as we transform the park for the community!
