United Way's Family Teaching Kitchens
United Way's Family Teaching Kitchens is a new initiative designed to help overcome our community's obesity crisis. United Way's Family Teaching Kitchens initiative features regular healthy cooking classes taught by a chef. The classes are interactive, where attendees prepare an actual meal during the class and are able to ask the chef any questions along the way. There is also support from a nutritionist and fitness expert in each class who help stress the importance of an overall healthy lifestyle. St. Luke's Community House, which is one of 17 United Way Family Resource Centers, was selected to host the first Family Teaching Kitchens class.
