The Event

Board Books for Babies

March 10, 2011

Thank you Nashville! United Way of Metropolitan Nashville’s 2011 Education Day of Action: Board Book for Babies began with a flurry of activity. On the morning of Thursday, March 10, volunteers poured into the offices of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, loaded down with books and ready to work. Once inside, they set to work in assembly-line fashion filling 1,900 bags with books, educational materials, and handwritten notes of inspiration and encouragement from volunteers that would be distributed to children enrolled in United Way’s Read to Succeed program. 11 local childcare centers take part in the Read to Succeed program which affects nearly 2,000 at-risk children here in Nashville. Another crew of volunteers helped deliver the bags to benefiting partner agencies that same afternoon, equipping children with the tools they need to “read to succeed.
