The Event
In an unfortunate but not surprising trend, calls for basic needs assistance are up again this year such as housing/utility assistance (up 12% from this time last year) and food (up 16%) according to the United Way 2-1-1 Helpline. These numbers continue to indicate that an ever increasing number of Nashville residents are struggling to simply get by. United Way’s Financial Stability Day of Action volunteer opportunity is critical to helping our Nashville neighbors shoulder the burden of meeting basic needs by providing food, personal care items and cleaning supplies.
Basic Needs Drives
August-September
Prior to the Day of Action, you can engage your friends, family and colleagues in a Basic
Needs Item Drive. Donate needed food items, conduct a supply drive, or donate money. Drop off basic needs items at United Way’s office.
Gifts of any amount are welcome. A donation of $25 provides an individual with a number of basic needs items that no one would want to go without. Your $25 donation can provide one individual with: peanut butter, beans, shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels and socks.
