The Event

United Way’s October Day of Action, a community baby shower, was such a wonderful success that our goal was exceeded!

More than 120 volunteers from Nashville area companies, organizations and individuals gathered at our offices on October 29 and filled more than 1,000 gift bags that will help prepare at-risk mothers to give their newborns a stronger start. That’s a total of more than 300 hours of volunteer service! Over 50 companies were represented at this Day of Action.

More than 60,000 essential baby items were collected, including:

• Diapers
• Wipes
• Formula
• Onesies
• Blankets

Expecting women and new mothers served by Seven United Way partner agencies benefited from this Day of Action:

• Catholic Charities
• The Next Door
• Nurses for Newborns
• Renewal House
• Salvation Army
• United Neighborhood Health Services
• YWCA
