October 2008 Day of Action - Health

Can you imagine starting your day without brushing your teeth or running a comb through your hair? Many people have to make tough decisions every day when it comes to their budgets, so we decided to try and help make things easier.

Our October Day of Action in 2008 raised over 4,500 basic need items needed by United Way-funded residential programs.  These items were collected and donated by over 40 individuals and companies here in the Nashville area.  Almost 60 volunteers came together to sort the items for 11 partner agencies with residential programs in need of basic care items.  The following day, 50 volunteers gathered to distribute the items to the agencies in need.
