Faces of Success: Ramzi Halim

EY Audit Manager Ramzi Halim understands why it is extremely important for companies to give back to the communities where they live and work.

“Companies like EY are the leaders in our community,” said Halim. “People look to us to help build the future of Nashville.”

Halim takes an active role in changing lives and building successful futures in Nashville through his partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Nashville. He’s been involved with United Way for almost seven years as a member of United Way’s Young Leaders Society (YLS).

“Young Leaders Society is a great way to get involved in the Nashville community. Whether it is volunteering or investing, I know I’m helping others.”

Halim has held leadership roles within YLS, most recently serving as 2017 YLS Steering Committee Chair. The 10-person steering committee aims at advocating in the community to help provide strategic direction and increase awareness of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville’s work on solutions in Education, Financial Stability and Health.

“As part of the YLS Steering Committee, I’ve helped plan YLS events like our Leadership Speaker Series — exclusive leadership development opportunities featuring United Way of Metropolitan Nashville board panelists. The steering committee also assists with the planning of volunteer events and networking socials that are specifically geared toward YLS members.”

Halim has several fond memories from participating in United Way Days of Action. He looks forward to his company’s partnership with United Way during their annual EY Connect Day — a national day of service where EY employees across the country give back to their communities. Some of Halim’s most favorite United Way memories have come from the Stuff the Bus Days of Action.

“Volunteering to fill backpacks with school supplies at the Stuff the Bus Sort-a-Thon is an amazing experience. YLS members are also involved in the Stuff the Bus Backpack Delivery a few days later on the first day of school. The expressions on the faces of the children who receive the backpacks is something I will always remember.”

If you are looking for a memorable way to give back to your community, consider joining YLS. Members connect through unique networking events, volunteer opportunities and an innovative leadership speaker series in order to expand their social and professional networks. Membership is open to individuals or couples under the age of 45 who invest $500 or more annually in United Way of Metropolitan Nashville.
