Faces of Success: Teaijah
"Getting a new backpack on my first day of school made me so excited," said Teaijah, a 4th grader at Buena Vista Elementary School who received a backpack full of school supplies last year through United Way’s Stuff the Bus Day of Action.
Teaijah is a bright and outgoing student who also serves as her school's student council secretary. She uses the school supplies she received from United Way to complete her homework and to make arts and crafts at home. She often uses the crayons and markers to create cards and pictures for her teachers.
"Many of my classmates and I don’t have school supplies because our parents don’t have the money for it. It was really nice for United Way to give school supplies to kids like me. I like to share my markers and crayons with my little sister and teach her how to color and draw."
Teaijah’s favorite subject in school is science and she plans on becoming a science teacher when she grows up. "I want to go to a four-year college so I can get a better education," says Teaijah proudly.
